Al Marwan, in collaboration with General Mechanic Company, undertook a monumental endeavor in the rugged terrain of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. The mission was to conquer the challenging landscape and transform the majestic Jebel Jais, the UAE's highest peak at 1,900 meters above sea level, into a thriving tourist destination.



Project Overview


Al Marwan played a crucial role in the commissioned project by Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, which entailed constructing a 36-kilometer road that ascends to the summit of Jebel Jais. Starting in 2005 and concluding in 2017, this ambitious undertaking demanded the expertise of approximately 150 skilled operators who worked tirelessly to overcome the formidable challenges posed by the mountainous terrain. During the initial stages, Our asphalt and road marking fleet played a pivotal role in providing the long and winding road with its enduring finish.

Equipment Deployment


To tackle the demanding topography and ensure high-quality road construction, a wide array of cutting-edge equipment provided by Al Marwan was utilized. The deployment included Hamm and Sakai tandem rollers, Ammann pneumatic tire rollers (PTRs), Volvo and Hino tipper trucks, Vogele and Volvo asphalt pavers, and Bobcat skid steer loaders. This robust fleet of machinery played a pivotal role in executing the meticulous layering process, involving a 15 cm sub base, 15 cm road base, and a double layer of asphalt.



Jebel Jais: A Natural Haven


Over the course of 12 years, the Jebel Jais project faced challenges like adverse weather conditions causing rockfall on newly laid roads. However, the completion of the asphalt and road marking project transformed the region, providing safe travel and fostering tourism. It also led to the establishment of entertainment hotspots, including the world's longest zipline, and attracted auto manufacturers with its picturesque backdrop for showcasing vehicles.
